BFEMP: Interpenetration-free MPM–FEM coupling with barrier contact

چکیده
This paper introduces BFEMP, a new approach for monolithically coupling the Material Point Method (MPM) with Finite Element (FEM) through barrier energy-based particle–mesh frictional contact using variational time-stepping formulation. The fully implicit time integration of coupled system is recast into barrier-augmented unconstrained nonlinear optimization problem. A modified line-search Newton’s method adopted to strictly prevent material points from penetrating FEM domain, ensuring convergence and feasibility regardless step size or mesh resolutions. proposed scheme also reduces imposing separable kinematic boundaries MPM when all nodal displacements in domain are prescribed Dirichlet boundary conditions. Compared standard integration, extra algorithmic components associated treatment only depend on simple point-segment (or point-triangle 3D) geometric queries which robustly handle arbitrary represented codimension-1 simplices. Experiments analyses performed demonstrate robustness accuracy method.

True Rigidity: Interpenetration-free Multi-Body Simulation with Polytopic Contact
An effective paradigm for simulating the dynamics of robots that locomote and manipulate is multi-rigid body simulation with rigid contact. This paradigm provides reasonable tradeoffs between accuracy, running time, and simplicity of parameter selection and identification. The Stewart-Trinkle/AnitescuPotra “time stepping” approach is the basis of many existing implementations. It successfully t...
متن کاملStatic semicoercive normal compliance contact problemwith limited interpenetration
For the static contact problem with limited interpenetration with the obstacle the existence of solutions is proved. The frictionless case is studied at first, then the problem with Coulomb friction is investigated as well. The body has nowhere a Dirichlet boundary value condition prescribed. In both cases, if the prescribed bound of the interpenetratiom tends to 0, the solutions tend to a solu...
متن کاملBlack Phosphorus Transistors with Near Band Edge Contact Schottky Barrier
Black phosphorus (BP) is a new class of 2D material which holds promise for next generation transistor applications owing to its intrinsically superior carrier mobility properties. Among other issues, achieving good ohmic contacts with low source-drain parasitic resistance in BP field-effect transistors (FET) remains a challenge. For the first time, we report a new contact technology that emplo...

We classify the second order, linear, two by two systems for which the two fundamental theorems for planar harmonic mappings, the Radó– Kneser–Choquet Theorem and the H. Lewy Theorem, hold. They are those which, up to a linear change of variable, can be written in diagonal form with the same operator on both diagonal blocks. In particular, we prove that the aforementioned Theorems cannot be ext...
متن کاملInterlayer exchange coupling across a ferroelectric barrier.
A new magnetoelectric effect is predicted originating from the interlayer exchange coupling between two ferromagnetic layers separated by an ultrathin ferroelectric barrier. It is demonstrated that ferroelectric polarization switching driven by an external electric field leads to a sizable change in the interlayer exchange coupling. The effect occurs in asymmetric ferromagnet/ferroelectric/ferr...
